How to Maintain Your Shower and Bathtub for Impeccable Results

There’s nothing like a clean, sparkling bathroom to start the day off right! However, moisture, limescale and soap scum can quickly dull the appearance of your shower and bath. Regular maintenance and proper cleaning techniques not only preserve the beauty of your surfaces but also extend their lifespan. Discover our simple and effective tips for keeping your bathroom as fresh and inviting as it was on the first day

Cleaning the shower

The products you use to clean your shower base and glass door play a crucial role in how easy they are to maintain and how long they last. It can be tempting to reach for powerful, fragrant cleaners — they give the impression of a deep clean — but be careful: many products on the market can actually damage your shower. Scrubbing powders or scouring pads should be avoided, as they often scratch surfaces and make them more susceptible to grease and dirt.

The magic solution is often within reach! Simple and effective: clean the glass shower door with a mixture of water and vinegar — about 1 oz of vinegar to 5 oz of water. You can also use a mild soap, but avoid any cleaner containing ammonia, which could damage the glass surface.

Another major ally for your shower: the squeegee! A good-quality squeegee (such as the one offered by Zitta Group) used after every shower can significantly reduce cleaning frequency and keep the glass spotless much longer.

💡 Did you know?
All showers manufactured by Zitta Group are equipped with the “ZITTA Clean” treatment, which causes water to bead on the glass so that the surface stays cleaner for longer.

And the base?

For cleaning the shower base, there’s no need to look far: a mild dishwashing liquid mixed with water is enough to keep the surface clean and shiny. However, avoid using abrasive products or tools, alcohol, bleach or ammonia, because these substances can, in the long term, damage the surface and reduce the durability of your base. Peroxide, essential oils and hair dye are also to be avoided.

Cleaning the bathtub

To preserve the beauty and durability of your acrylic bathtub, it is essential to take care of it properly. Always favour gentle products, such as a mild soap or a cleaner specially designed for acrylic, and avoid abrasive products, alcohol, bleach or ammonia, which could scratch or dull the surface.

A regular rinse after each use prevents soap and limescale build-up. To remove limescale marks, a mixture of water and white vinegar applied a few minutes before rinsing will work wonders.

Finally, make sure to avoid any metallic or sharp object and wipe the surface after each wash to limit deposits and keep your bathtub spotless for longer.
By adopting simple maintenance gestures and appropriate products, you’ll be able to keep your shower and bathtub clean and sparkling for longer, while making everyday cleaning easier.
